About Mick Stoney (a.k.a. ‘Big Mick’)
Although I worked in manufacturing for 35 years, I was always able to do my gardening in my spare time. Shift work did have its benefits!
Being made redundant gave me the opportunity to indulge myself by going into gardening full-time and so I started my own gardening business. I am now one of the lucky few who can honestly say that “I am doing the job I love.”
Choosing a name for my business was dead easy. Having been known as ‘Big Mick’ all my working life, this seemed the obvious choice.
Being my own boss has so many advantages and although it can be very hard work both physically and mentally (accounts and paperwork – yuk!), a quiet word in the boss’ ear can get me the time off to follow my other passions in life.
I am lucky to have a very close family both in and around the Bradford area and now even have a Welsh contingent. I am also fortunate to have lots of friends and I can always count on them for a relaxing beer at the end of a long hard week.
I am a very keen angler, being the long term secretary of Field Angling Club and also help to organise the Bradford Pals Angling Club.
I am also a long suffering – sorry, “long standing” – supporter of Bradford City FC and get to watch most of their home games and a select few away matches.
